The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope you all are having a great week! Here's the latest news....

*New Blog Features - I have added two new sections to the blog. The "Academic Focus" section highlights the skills we are working on in the classroom. The "Behavior Focus" section highlights class behaviors we are trying to master. I will update those once we have improved those particular behaviors. Please look over those each week and talk to your child about how they are doing in both areas. They are both found on the right side of the blog beneath the spelling words.

*Field Trip Payment - Please go to School Cash Online to pay for your child's upcoming trip to Cheekwood.

*Upcoming Dates - Make sure you are checking out the "Upcoming Dates" section of the blog to know what is going on at PPE and in our classroom. We have several events happening in the next month.

*College Shirt Day - College Shirt Day is this Friday! Students are encouraged to wear their favorite college shirt or favorite college colors.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great week!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope your week is going well. Here's the latest news.....

*Field Trip Chaperones - Last call for chaperones on the October 24th field trip to Cheekwood. Parent chaperones will need to provide their own transportation, meet us at Cheekwood by 9:50am, and be available until 12:15pm. The cost is $22.00 per adult. Chaperones will need to pay this at the Cheekwood entrance.

*Permission Slips - Please return the blue field trip permission slips that were sent home in your child's Friday folder. I need that form signed and returned in order for your child to attend our field trip to Cheekwood.

*Invest - Thank you to all that have signed up or donated to our Invest campaign. 100% participation will earn our class a popsicle party. You can even choose the "I support PPE" option if you are not able to give at this time. Click on this LINK to support PPE!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope you all are having a great week. Here's the latest news....

*Cheekwood - We will be going to Cheekwood on Tuesday, October 24th. If you would like to be a parent chaperone for this field trip, please let me know by Friday, September 22nd. Per MNPS policy, no siblings are allowed to attend.

Parent chaperones will need to provide their own transportation, meet us at Cheekwood by 9:50am, and be available until 12:15pm. The cost is $22.00 per adult. Chaperones will need to pay this at the Cheekwood entrance. This will likely be the only field trip we can take a large group of parent chaperones. Our other field trips have a limited amount of adults that we are allowed to bring.

*No School on Thursday - There is no school on Thursday, September 14th for students.

*Invest - The time is now to participate in INVEST! Our goal is 100% family participation this year. Any amount is appreciated. If you aren't able to give right now, you can still click the button "I support PPE" so that your child can be counted in our participation numbers. Click HERE to support today.

Have a great week!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope you all had a long and restful Labor Day weekend. Here's the latest news.....

*Spelling - The first grade team has decided to begin spelling words this week. Our normal list of words won't begin for another month or two, but we wanted to go ahead and review some words before those lists began. You will find a list of words in your child's homework folder. Please make sure they know those words before the spelling test on Friday. We will also be practicing those words at school.

*Homework - Homework will begin this week.  You will find a list of spelling words and a math fact sheet in your child's Friday folder. The homework sheets are considered optional. I will give them Dojo points for each sheet they complete. However, I do need them reading for 15-20 minutes outside of school each day.

*Progress Reports - Progress reports will be sent home today in your child's homework folder. I didn't give out many grades during the first couple of weeks of school, so their grades are based on a limited amount of data. I will also be giving you some of their beginning of the year assessment results.

*Picture Day - Picture Day is this Thursday!

I hope you all have a great week! Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
