The Tanner Time

Parents,

I hope you all are having a great week. Here's the latest news.....

*Yearbooks - There are some extra yearbooks available to purchase if you didn't get a chance to order one earlier in the year. Please email Mrs. Tanner @ amy.tanner@mnps.org for ordering instructions.

*Favorite Snacks - Please pick up some of your kiddos favorite snacks for our auction day. I like to have a snack table as part of the auction. You can send those in as soon as you would like!

*Auction - The class auction will be on Tuesday, May 20th. Your kiddos will need their backpacks empty and an additional bag to carry all of their loot. Please send in any items you would like to donate. I'll purchase the remaining items on our wish list towards the end of next week. Thank you for all of the items you've donated so far!

*Game Day - Our Game Day will be on Wednesday, May 21st. This is a change from last year's schedule. Students can bring games and toys from home as long as they have your approval. However, electronic devices are not allowed.

Let me know if you have any questions!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope you all are having a great start to the week. Please pay close attention to any blog updates I send over the next few weeks. Here's the latest news.....

*Testing - Our end-of-year testing window has begun. Please talk with your child about the importance of giving their best on each question. I want to make sure the information we receive from these assessments accurately portrays their strengths and weaknesses.

*Field Day - Field Day is Monday, May 5th. Please make sure your child has a water bottle, sides to go with their pizza (if they would like any), tennis shoes, and their PPE t-shirt.

*Field Trip/Chaperones Needed - We have a field trip scheduled for Thursday, May 8th at Travellers Rest. Please let me know if you would like to be a chaperone. I currently have room for 3 more chaperones. You will need be at Travellers rest from 9:50-12:00. Chaperones will unfortunately need to pay an $8 entry free once they arrive.

*Homework - I am not sending any spelling words or homework for the rest of the year. I promise you we will still be working hard at school! :)

*Auction Items - You should receive an email soon from our room parents regarding our auction wish list. While we could still use a lot of smaller prizes, this list will be for the grand prizes. Each child gets to add one item to our list. Please consider purchasing something from that list. I'll purchase whatever is left on that list a week before the auction.

Let me know if you have any questions. Have a great week!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope you all are having a great start to the week. Here's the latest classroom news....

*Friday - There is no school this Friday, April 18th.

*Spelling Words - I sent home a spelling list, but we will not have a spelling test over those words. However, I do want the class to look them over and know how they are important in our "War of 1812" books.

*TCAP Schedule - We will be using a testing schedule for most days during the next two weeks. However, our lunch and recess times will remain the same.

Have a great week!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

We have a busy 4th quarter ahead of us. Keep an eye on the blog for all of the important news you'll need!

*Homework - Students will only be getting a spelling sheet in their homework folders for the remainder of the year. They can still do i-Ready, Lexia, Sumdog, MathFactCafe (printable math sheets), and read for 20 minutes a night if you are looking for additional academic options.

*Library Books - All library books are due at this time. Our library has to be packed up earlier this year, so students will not be allowed to check out books for the rest of the year. However, you can check out books through the Nashville Public Library and have them delivered to the school.

*Class Books - I am going through my class library, so don't be alarmed if your child brings home books with my name on it. It's time to purge!

*Report Cards - Report cards will be sent home Tuesday, March 25th.

*Auction - It's time for me to start bugging you about the class auction. Please consider me when you're cleaning out your house this spring. I take just about any new or gently used item I think a child would enjoy. The first stage is collecting items you would like to donate. Next month I will send out a wish list filled with items the kiddos have chosen. The auction will be held the last week of school.

Have a great week!

Parents,

I hope you all have had a great start to the week. Here's the latest news...

*Book Character Day: This Friday is Book Character Day at PPE. Your child can dress up as one of their favorite book characters. Bonus points will be given if they bring in the book that goes with their character.

*Half Day: Friday is a half day for all students. Dismissal will begin at 11:30.

*Homework: I will not be giving out homework this week. I wanted the class to have some additional time to finish up the Read-A-Thon challenges. Homework will resume after the break.

*Spring Break: Students will not report to school next week. I hope you all have a fun and restful break!

Have a great week!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope you all had a great weekend. We're all hoping for a snow day or two in room 18. How about you? Here's the latest news...

*Read-A-Thon - The Read-A-Thon has begun! The children have been tasked with reading 1,500 minutes (home and school reading) during the Read-A-Thon. This is such an important event for the school and for your child. Please help your kiddos reach their reading goal and complete the challenges on the challenge board.

*Homework - I will not be giving spelling words or homework during the Read-A-Thon. Please use that time to log some additional minutes on their reading logs.

*Red Folder - The red Read-A-Thon folders need to stay in their backpack. They will need to use that folder at home and at school.

*Class Books - Students may be bringing some of my classroom books home to read during the Read-A-Thon. They can return them and get some more if they like. I do not plan on giving out more than 5 at a time. Don't stress if they get lost at home. That will just be less that I have to pack up in May.

*Guest Reader - Let me know if you would like to be a guest reader during the Read-A-Thon. Just email me with a date and a time slot. Here are the best times to come and read...

8:10-8:30

10:00-10:20

1:45-2:30

Have a great week!

The Tanner Times

Parents,

I hope you all are having a great week. Illness is still spreading throughout the classroom. We are working hard at keeping our hands clean and to ourselves in room 18. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon! Here's the latest news....

Field Trip - We have a field trip scheduled for Friday, February 7th to the National Museum of African American Music. Please let me know if you would like to be a chaperone on that trip. Part of the time will be reserved for a scavenger hunt, so a few chaperones would be a big help. Please let me know if you are interested!

Field Trip Payment - Please click on this link to pay for the field trip. The cost is only $5.

Valentine's Day - Our Valentine's Day party is on Friday, February 14th @ 1:45. Please make sure your child has valentines for each child and a decorated box to hold their loot! We currently have 19 students. Please check out the class roster in the "Documents" section of the blog for a list of names.

Vision and Hearing Screening - The Well Child Vision and Screening will take place on Wednesday, January 29th. Your child will not do this screening if you opted out when you filled out the forms at the beginning of the year.

Have a great week!
